BACKGROUND

Ms. Sarovic is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Virginia and the District of Columbia.  She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Education from the University of Zagreb, Croatia, and a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Temple University, Philadelphia, Pa.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Overall, Ms. Sarovic has more than twenty years of experience providing mental health services to a wide range of clients from long-term psychiatric patients and victims of trauma to students and adults with minor adjustment and developmental issues.  In addition to therapy, Ms. Sarovic has also provided assessment, screening, referral, case management, and crisis intervention services.  She has worked in different public and private settings such as a partial hospitalization program for long-term psychiatric patients, a foster care agency, university counseling and health centers (Temple, Hahnemann, and Trinity Washington University), private and charter schools for children and adolescents with emotional problems, and as an Independent Mental Health Provider with different counseling groups in the Washington, DC area (Prince William Family Counseling and Finding Solution).  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ms. Sarovic has also served as a consultant to several international humanitarian and relief agencies in their work in conflict zones throughout the world. She was a principle writer of the brochures “War Trauma and Recovery” and “Trauma and Recovery”, which have been translated to a half dozen languages.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ms. Sarovic has received extensive training in several counseling and therapeutic approaches including Gestalt Therapy and Ericksonian Hypnotherapy. In 2012, she completed a three year training in Interpersonal Neurobiology, an approach that combines attachment theory and mindfulness with the most up to date research in neurology and its application in counseling and therapy. Ms. Sarovic believes in the importance of educating clients about the working of brain and mind while assisting them in addressing difficult emotional experiences and finding optimal solution in their lives.
